The Swindon and Cotswold Paddle Boarding Club will be running a fun family event for all this Bank Holiday in Radcot just outside of Faringdon! Whether you have your own paddle board or you want to try paddle boarding for the first time then this Bank Holiday (May the 27th) is your opportunity to give it all ago!
There will be a free long distance paddle starting starting at Hannington or Lechlade for experienced own board riders. This would be approx. 16.5Km or 4+ hours of paddling downstream (10km from Lechlade to Radcot). Please join the Paddle Boarding Facebook page for all the latest info and lift shares etc. They’ll all be starting early at just before 10am for this one and paddling down though three locks until they reach the Ye Olde Swan for lunch! This is going to be a tough paddle with a quick pace, so beginners won’t be able to join in sadly.

If you’re new to paddle boarding or would like to give it ago for the first time then the Swindon and Cotswold Paddle Club taster afternoon is for you!
Pop along to the Ye Olde Swan Inn at Radcot from 2:30pm on 27th. The Ye Olde Swan Inn have very kindly allowed “The Swindon and Cotswold Paddle Board Club” the use of their pub to host this event for free and will be serving fine ales, BBQ food and lite bites and pizza from their Pizza oven for anyone wanting to make a real afternoon of it! We launch from the “carpark island” on the opposite bank to the pub.
We shall be running the taster sessions approx every half an hour from 2:30pm until dark. Everyone’s welcome whether you’re on your own or with your family and you can also bring your dog if you like. If you’re thinking of taking part then lose fitting clothes are a must – Think gym wear, leggings or shorts and a T-Shirt if you can. Always bring a spare set of clothes just in case you fall in. Its not likely that you will fall in but if you don’t bring a spare set of clothes you know it will be you getting wet!
The event is only £10 per board for half an hour. This £10 goes towards our paddle board running costs such as boards, paddles, river licences and insurances etc. This £10 is payable on the day to the guys and girls helping you on and off the boards.
Look for the ATBShop Flags when you arrive and come and say hello to our team of volunteers and let them know you’d like to take part! All the team will be able to advise you on which boards are best for you and how they all work. Then when you’re kitted up and have had your quick safety brief you’ll head down to water and launch. They’ll be instructors on hand to get you in and out of the water and help you perfect your paddle board technique! You’ll be pro by the end of the taster session!
Paddle Boarding is a fab way to meet new friends and get fit! They’ll be an opportunity to meet other riders, so if you have your own board and are starting out then come and join in for free!
