Stop number two of the ATBShop Demo Tour saw some of the best conditions the UK had to offer with wind reaching us to a solid 15knots and enough sun to think you where abroad! With some even braving the Welsh waters without the need of a wetsuit it was weekends such as this that we remember what kitesurfing is all about.
With an absolute ton of kit we set off Friday evening with a few minor hiccups regarding a flat tyre along the way, we arrived late to one of our favourite kitesurfing spots in the country. Known for its waves and vast, jurassic like landscape, Pembrey offers enough space to produce clean and reliable wind for anyone beginner to advanced to get out and have an absolute blast.
Day One offered up a cross-on shore wind combined with the slightly messy 2-3ft swell providing soo much fun in the waves to even with a twin tip! With all the team out on the water relaying some of the more popular kites and boards to and from the water to make sure everyone gets to try their share of the kit, we saw a lot of faces; new and old making it down to the beach alongside WK Kite Project Kitesurf School after welcoming us on to the beach!
Due to the level of wind, people, sand blowing everywhere and a small patch of welsh rain to send us off the beach in the evening of the first day, we where not able to get the camera out for some snaps!
With a bit of van dwelling in the evening time followed by a night cap or two, it was an early night to recover the slightly beaten and exhausted team after ferrying all the kit too and from the beach.
Day two saw a slower start to the day with the wind gradually driving upwards from midday giving us an early afternoon light wind session and a good opportunity for some photos and Karma Drone flying! After doing some ‘work’ the heavens provided us with yet another solid 15knots and the perfect British Summer time sun to accompany it. Some one was truly looking out for us as the 12m’s raised from the land and embarked towards the water.
Overall the weekend was a complete success judging by the teams under enthusiasm to be heading home and working the next day. We have kitesurfed in locations across the UK and around the world and we can only be left to feel grateful for the conditions we have been given on this incredible weekend in the sun.
