On our travels to ISPO trade show this year, we stopped by the ever growing Madd display stand. With all their new products for 2014 out on display. One of the scooters to catch our eye was the new MADD VX4 Team Scooter, and boy is it a big improvement from last years!
This years VX4 MADD Team complete is certainly a big upgrade for the most popular scooter in MADD’s range. The new 4in wide Box section deck is finger whip friendly and flat for grinds. The bars use an internal fluting system which increases strength whilst shaving off weight. The grips are Madd’s new Grind grips, measuring in at 129mm wide with hard plastic bar ends. There is still the tried and tested extruded triple clamp and classic 110mm Aero Alloy Wheels. The box deck features a new integrated team headtube with an FSA Orbit C Integrated headset fitted, one of the fastest and longest lasting headsets. MADD have now finally gone threadless with the forks on the team and chosen to use HIC compression this year, i believe this is going to be a common trend for 2014. Gone are the days of threaded headsets and spanners to adjust. HIC is arguably alot easier to put together and maintain, whilst also being very light and incredibly strong.
The new MG TI steel threadless are a re-imagining of the forks previously seen on last years Nitros. It also has a diamond cutout on the side to decrease weight. The deck as per every model in MADD’s range includes the signature MGP downtube. One of the biggest improvements is that the deck is now flat on the base, meaning longer, more stable grinds. It comes in at four inches wide and 3mm concave, mellow, but enough to get a good grip without hurting your feet.
It’s rolling on 110mm aero core wheels with anodized cores fitted with the latest K-1 ABEC 7 bearings. And with decent wheels you need a good brake. The new Blitz composite brake from Madd is the perfect addition. It features a composite build to reduce weight and conserve strength.
It also features a steel insert for durability.
Overall we were highly impressed with the upgrade and build of the new VX4 team. We can’t wait to get it instore, we’re sure the customers will be just as impressed as we were.
