Ozone Global Demo Tour- UK Stop
We where greeted with what started as a humid, slightly overcast conditions with a tide exiting from the beach shortly after midday and a varying attendance of an unfortunate 4 to 5mph of wind. Never the less the spirits where high alongside the anticipation for a sea breeze later in the day for a chance to get out and try the new R1 that a few people where already lined up and dibsying the first few goes.
Decorating the beach they had something for everyone; the Uno for the kids and beginners or for those who want to have a mess around, the Catalyst V1 for beginners and schools alike, the Enduro for everyone and anyone simply because its awesome, the Reo V3 for the wave riders, the C4 for those freestyle/ wakestyle lovers, the Edge for those who enjoy flying hi and going fast, the Zephyr for that must have backup on light wind days and of course the Chrono V2 and the R1 foils for the advanced freeride/ race kiters looking for something next level.
Shortly before the BBQ was on the go, accompanied with a cold beer and listening ears, the Ozone team rider and wave riding pro Ryan Coote, gave an inspiring talk on progression in wave riding and a few things to lookout for when hitting the swell strapless.
Shortly after the talk it was cue BBQ and for the eager it seemed was cue the R1 to which had made its debut and was up and flying in a breathe of wind! I believe it is safe to say it is a satisfying feeling to see the first kite fly as you know that sea breeze could only be round the corner… And it was. By now the tide had gone out producing what seemed to be a playground for all of those that had been waiting and soon the sky was decorated with kites and the “demoing” was underway.
Little did they know while everyone was making use of the sea breeze, we where making use of the free BBQ and free booze!
