We were lucky enough to persuade Roots Longboards to come and pay ATBShop Skate Warehouse a visit. Armed with a bunch of demo boards to try, the ATBShop team piled on into the park to give them a go. After a sweaty few hours we got down to business. Talking to Dixie, co-owner of the business, ATBShop fell in love the brand and their ethos. Dixie was so passionate about the brand and where the roots (pardon the pun) of the business had formed from. Brand like this don’t just happen – they are born out of pure passion, and dedication to make the best product that they can. ATBShop loved the feel and looks of these unique, hand crafted, British board.
So what makes Roots special?
Started by Dixie and Dean, two friends from Oxfordshire, who have been in the skate, surf and carpentry industry for the majority of their lives. They’ve brought these Californian influenced ideas over, transformed these ideas in Oxfordshire to create their final product. From cutting to shaping and pressing, every part of the process is done by hand. Every deck is made from the best of pure Canadian Maple and gripped with rider tried, tested and approved grip tape. No cheap chinese maple here!!!
Below we areare going to talk techy stuff, but if you’re more about a coming down and trying before you buy, or just giving longboarding a go for the first time then Roots are holding a ATBShop Skate park Demo Day here at the park. No need to book just turn up from 11 am on the 27th of May and come and meet the guys. They will be on hand to talk you through the brand, ethos and build. You can prctice on these boards outside the warehouse on some of the smoothest tarmac around.
No need to book, just turn up on the day and get involved. It’s free to test the boards and everyone is welcome to try. There will be an oppertunity on the day to find out about their bespoke board packages as well.
