Well it’s been and gone for another year, but it’s safe to say that we caught a load of you out with our Fake Banksy April Fools joke on Wednesday!
Thanks for all the calls, emails and Facebook messages.
We didn’t lie about everything in the post – we have been helping homeless youths and running free skate events with free Dominos pizza and we need a new roof for the mini after the high winds this week but sadly it wasn’t Banksy but our very own Harry Calvert who designed the street art. Team rider, employee and photographer Harry made the piece up from scratch. After it was created Stu re-formatted the illustration so it could go through a vinyl machine. Then Damian sorted out all the vinyl stencil so it could go up on the mini ramp. Then team rider Pete Case and Diana took it in turns to spray the stencil on to the mini ramp.
Then we needed a story – Stu photoshopped the local paper adding in our fake story so it looked as if the artwork had appeared days before. Eagled eyed viewers would however noticed the date on the fake news paper. Loads of you fell for our April 1st gag but it was thanks to our team and all the mums and riders in the park that day. The fake news video for the April Fool reveal was filmed and editied by Harry. So all round it was a good team prank and a lot of people believed it! 🙂
If you would like to check out everyone’s responses then head over to our Facebook page and scroll down to April the 1st. See the video below.
Roll on next years April Fool.
