Charity Event in Association with Prospect Hospice Swindon

This holiday we are proud to be hosting another one of our Half Term Charity Days, this time in aid of The Prospect Hospice Swindon, where we will be raising money alongside a friend Stephen who will also be running the London Marathon to help raise funds for this charity.

The Prospect means a lot to us as ATBShop as we have lost friends, including an amazing father, Stuart Hanks, who visited the park regularly with his son and daughter, and even got involved in the scooting himself. Sadly he was recently looked after in the Prospect Hospice Swindon and received amazingly professional and friendly care. For this reason we have chosen to help Steve raise money for the Prospect.

The events will be hosted at the park on Wednesday 15th February and Wednesday 19th April. (Normal Opening Hours)

The park will be selling raffle tickets with prizes such as;
Tickets to Swindon Town FC latest game (Vs. Gillingham)
Tickets to the Speedway
Other prizes on the day

We will also be donating 50% of the parks entry fees to the Hospice and will have a collection bucket in store too.

We had a catch up with Steve and asked a few questions;

1) Why are you raising money for the prospect?

I’ve been very lucky in not needing to use the services of Prospect Hospice however I have close friends who unfortunately have needed their help and have heard some wonderful feedback and stories of how they have looked after their loved ones in their final precious days/weeks. I was very lucky to get a ballot place for the London Marathon and after hearing the fantastic work they’ve do I feel it’s the least I can do.

2) How much are you looking to raise?

To be honest as I have a ballot place I don’t have to meet a target or anything, of course I would like to raise as much as I can as I know every penny is needed to keep this fantastic place going and offering the care they do. If I can make the £1000 mark then I will be over the moon.

3) How has the training been for the London Marathon?

The training is still on going and at times has been a struggle as the only time I can run during the week is before work, constantly getting up at 04:30am and running 7 miles before work does take its toll but I’d like to think myself sensible and I do listen to my body and adjust the training as required. I’ve also joined Slinn Allstars to keep the motivation going and they are fantastic but also all the encouragement from my friends, family and donations make it easier too!

4) Are there any other events you are hosting to help raise money?

I’m very lucky that ATB have kindly offered to do a few events for me to help raise some the profile of what I’m doing and also help with fundraising. All the ATB team are fantastic and I feel very privileged to have them onside plus I don’t think Pete needs much of an excuse to get the BBQ out if I’m honest.

5) Do you have a JustGiving or Similar page?

I do, it’s; http://m.virginmoneygiving.com/mt/uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserPage.action?userUrl=StephenMottram&faId=778981&isTeam=false

If you do kindly wish to sponsor me then click on the link and if possible also hit “gift aid” too, it will not cost any extra and will boost funds for the Hospice.

Thank you so much in advance for your donations, every penny will go a long way.

As you can imagine this is a fundraiser, which is extremely important and priceless to many people in Swindon and the surrounding area, which benefits many of our loved friends and family. Come along and support us with riding, raffle and cake and enjoy a great day for a worthy cause. Lets help Steve hit and smash his £1000 target for this great cause.
