On Monday the 28th of July Matt and I headed down to Bristol to meet up with some of the biggest brands in skateboarding. Shiner, hosted the event in their swanky showroom in Bristol. This is the third one that they have held and it went down a storm.
Our first stop was Lakai shoes. Shop assistant and team rider Matt Drever, rocked up at the Lakai stand wearing a rather used pair of trainers so the rep Adrian, hooked matt up with a fresh set of camo/black Lakai Picos.
Matt and I stuck a pre order as seen in the photo below for a Feburary pre-order.
We are both mega excited with our choice and have added a few kids trainers into the mix sizes starting from 3-5. We have chosen what we believe are some good looking and hard wearing skate shoes. We did choose one set of canvas trainers, but we do think that they will make a smart shoe for going out in. We also chose a few sets of pro trainers. You may recognise the name Riley Hawk – Let’s face it you can’t have a famous skateboarding dad and not get sponsored. These collab shoes with Baker are going to be a sell-out.
After Lakai we popped over to see another distributor who stocks Polar, National skateboards and Welcome. We have placed an order for a new line into the store so expect to see National Skateboards hitting the shelves in the next few weeks plus a few new decks from Welcome and Polar. We’ve also ordered some new tee’s so look out for these hitting our store in the next few weeks.
Matt and I then popped over to see Callum who works for one of the biggest skate distributor’s in the UK. Armed with the iPads we placed an order for loads of new clothing from Anti Hero – who have used a mock-up of the Thrasher text in some of their new tees. We also ordered from Creature who have kept to their same style for 2015 and from Thunder. All of these preordered tees, snap backs and five panels will come into store in February 2015.
We had placed an order for some deck chairs from Creature which are going to RRP for £24.95 each. They are a must – there is a matching coffin shaped towel but with an RRP of £50 plus we didn’t order one.
Then we headed over to the DGK stand. ATBShop Skate Warehouse had a little shopping spree over there. They had some really cool decks in stock which should be with us later this week. We also bought a dog shaped cruiser, which for me was the high-light of my trip. We had tried to order the cat/Sony shaped cruiser from Polar but they had sold out, so this board was a must! From DGK we also ordered tons of snap backs, tees and decks. Some of these will be in this week and some are on an autumn pre order so will be back in mid-October.
We also order some amazing new MOB grip tape with a stencil design on by mouse. We know this grip tape is going to kill it at an RRP of only £9.95 a sheet!
Then we popped over to the last stand of the day who distribute Primitive, Grizzly and Isle. We put an order in for a ton of new decks from Isle and primitive. We especially loved Primitive new all over gold deck. This deck has the bling factor – although we do think you would be blinded with one kick flip in the sun. Staying on the subject of blinding – check out the new “Weedazzle grip tape” from Bro style. I can honestly say I have never seen a grip tape contain glitter. This may have to come with a health warning if hooked up with the Primitive deck.
We also ordered from Grizzly – loads of new socks, key rings, wax, snap back’s and my favourite plastic board grippers. This is a clever little piece of plastic which is shaped like a blade which you can keep in your wallet to grip with.
Over all the show was well worth hitting up. It’s good to see what’s new for 2015, catch up the suppliers and build a relationship with them. They have promised us prizes for competitions and even gave us some to take away. Thanks to Shiner for hosting the event and we will see you all again in 2015 for the next one.
