So last night we had a special delivery to make. The Ebay listing ended for our charity auction for Shelter – which raises money to help the homeless. Diana and Stuart along with the team at ATBShop have all been rallying around helping a few local homeless young riders. They were touched by their stories as sometimes life just hands you a bad hand of cards. These young riders all aged 17-25 years were all found living in a tent in a hedge just along from the Oasis free outdoor skate park. Diana and the team helped them to find housing, food and even a job with the help of Street Games Swindon – Charlie Paradise.
To raise awareness of the homeless issue Diana and Stuart decided to auction off their Tony Hawk merchandise which they collected on their 6th wedding anniversary trip to NASS for them just meeting Tony and the team was enough for them.
The Ebay listing ended and it quickly became apparent that a local ATBShop rider’s parent had won! The young skater Ollie’s parents had been bidding on the merchandise without his knowledge. This was a totally surprise to Ollie as Diana and Stuart arrived to deliver the prize to his home in South Cerney. Ollie looked shocked as Diana and Stuart popped their heads round the corner of his mums kitchen. Ollie had no idea why they were both stood in his parents kitchen and looked even more confused when Diana handed him the bag of goodies.
Ollie was over the moon and couldn’t stop grinning at the content’s of the bag! Ollie just kept thanking Diana and Stuart but as they pointed out – Ollie needed to thank his kind parents who won the auction donating to the Charity Shelter.
Ollie went into great detail about how they managed to meet Tony Hawk by chance at NASS and Ollie had managed to get Tony to sign his T-Shirt and hi-five him when people around him couldn’t even get close enough to say hi! So now he has a full package of Tony Hawk goodies to remember meeting him and seeing him ride the vert ramp.
Thanks again from all at ATBShop to all who took part in the charity Ebay listing and thanks to Ollie’s amazing parents who were so kind and generous. On the way out Diana and Stuart saw how lucky Ollie really was as his father had been kind enough to build a mini skate park on their drive. Ollie’s love and passion for skateboarding really showed and we know the Tony Hawk goodies have gone to a good home. 🙂
