Chewing through the standard Gears? The Moon Steel Gear set has been built for you! Fitting all batches of Moon AT Drive batch 5 onwards comes with new 18T and 96T pinions.
Developed with ATBShop and Moon ESkate for those hard riding offroad we are pleased to offer the Moon AT Metal Gear set. These replace the original POM Gear and pinions with a smaller toothed metal gear. It increases the noise of the gear box and the weight but massively increases the strength to deal with super high torque requirements. This fits all AT Moon Drives since batch 5, if you are unsure if it will fit then if you had a 47T POM gear in there then it should fit. If it had the 44T gear as standard then there is not going to be room for it.
The Gear ratio is 5.3:1 by using a 96T and 18T pinions the Gear tooth pitch is a metric MOD 1 pattern so other pinions could be fitted to change the ratio we have not experimented with this yet so are unsure maximum gear sizes possible. The gears are straight cut to stop any side loading on the drive unit and motor as there is not a thrust bearing in the drive train. You use the slots in the gearboxes for the motor fixing rather than the fixed holes and you need to set your backlash up manually but isn't too hard to do.
